Child obesity linked to video games according to McDonald's CEO - Image 1Some of you may remember when McDonald’s UK CEO Steve Easterbrook took a stab at the video game biz last week, relating it to child obesity.

In response to this statement, Daily Star writer Paul Vale retorted with his own comeback answering the CEO’s barbed remark. Vale did admit that Easterbrook’s statement about kids preferring to stay at home playing video games was true enough.

However, Vale mentioned that McDonald’s should have a good long look at themselves before pointing a greasy finger at anyone else. Here’s a direct excerpt from Vale’s article posted on the Daily Star website:

You admitted the food and drink biz played a part too – but you forgot to mention the 1,200 calories contained in an average Big Mac, large fries and a Coke. IÂ’ve no problem with McDonald’s – if people want to buy it thatÂ’s up to them.

But I do have a problem with the gaming industry being blamed for all of society’s ills as it often is, just because it’s a soft target. Like one of your customers, Phil, we’ve had a stomach-full.

He also mentioned that Easterbrook shouldn’t blame the gaming industry for all of society’s ills just because it’s a soft and convenient target.
