Dante’s Inferno producer welcomes the challenge in making a sequel

dantes-inferno-game-box-artworkThe video game adaptation of the classic The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno, has been making noise even before it was officially announced. Now that it’s just about well on it’s way out, one cannot help but wonder if Electronic Arts would care to prep for a sequel. Executive Producer Jonathan Knight addresses that issue and admits that it all depends on the success of the game. But if it does turn out that people clamor for a sequel, how would they go about making it when the story from which the game is based on does not have a sequel?

The video game adaptation of the classic The Divine Comedy, Dante’s Inferno, has been making noise even before it was officially announced. Now that it’s just about well on it’s way out, one cannot help but wonder if Electronic Arts would care to prep for a sequel.

Executive Producer Jonathan Knight addresses that issue and admits that it all depends on the success of the game. But more important than that, it is going to be a heck of a challenge to come up with a sequel, considering that Inferno is the first act in Dante’s trilogy, consequently followed by the more placid Purgatorio and Paradiso.

In an interview with G4TV, Knight concedes, “That is a problem I have to solve by earning the right to do a follow up.” He also shared that the team’s main focus right now is completing the game. “This is just totally what our focus is, and then we’re gonna [finish] around the holidays and then everybody’s gonna take a long break and we’re gonna see if people respond well to it in February — which I think they will.”

And if they like it enough to ask for a sequel, “That’s a problem I’d like to have and if we’re lucky enough to solve it, we’ll go about solving it.”
