DDO Launches Today in Japan

DDORawr! Dungeons and Dragons Online is set to make waves in Japan today with its launch.

Erm… Roar? Dragons? Roaring? Get it? So let’s cut the corny jokes and go straight to the point, shall we?

Based on its success in North America and Europe, the MMO (based on the hit pen and paper RPG) Dungeons and Dragons Online was launched in Japan today, care of Turbine, Inc. and SAKURA Internet Inc. In lieu of the said launch, Asian-themed armor and weapons are featured in the game coupled with the classic D&D v3.5 rules D&D fans know by heart.

For non-DDO fans yet avid MMO players, hopefully the adventures in the mythical city of Stormreach will cater to their fancy. The game features various races such as drows, dwarves, elves, halflings, humans and the warforged; which are further divided into various classes that showcase varying skills. The Asian theme seems to give the game an interesting twist, but we have yet to see how it will fare in the said country.

So will the Japanese DDO fans expect katana-wielding Iron Golems? Hmmmm… we’ll see about that. For more DDO updates, just stay glued to QJ.
