Dead or Alive Xtreme 2: All About the Fans(ervice)

DoAX2

Ah, fan service. How the hormonally-plagued men of the world have missed you.

The Tokyo Game Show will play host to plenty of people – a good number of which will surely be men – looking to get their hands on a playable demo of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2. Team Ninja offered up even more details on the the game, including just how much more is left before they can take it off their hard drives and onto game discs.

According to producer Tomonobu Itagaki, they’re at the 60% mark for completion. Of what’s left on the agenda for the game, he mentions, “Excluding beach volleyball, the game engine is mostly complete. For beach volleyball, we had the previous title, so we left it until the end, but since we’re at last finishing up the other areas, we’re at the point where it’s about time we start making the new beach volleyball.”

What are these things, excluding beach volleyball? Minigames…and they’re designed for just the sort of action male gamers had in mind. There is a beach flagging game, where players mash buttons to propel their characters towards the flag at the end of the run; a water flotation game, where the object is to push the other character off the raft; and three others: the hopping game from the first DoAX, a water sliding game, and a tug-of-war game on water. Besides these minigames, the casino from the first game makes its return… making sure you have some way to make money, unless you want to sell the clothes off your back.

Hmm… that actually might be something they’ll implement in the next outing… moving on!

Speaking of clothes, there certainly won’t be a lack of clothes in this game. A lack of cloth, perhaps, but the developers assure gamers that there will be a ton of outfits for the DoA girls to pose in, as well as accessories and other items. They’re also working to improve their style in relation to the graphics to improve the experience for those playing the game, and also adding enhancements to camera movement to offer better control over the volleyball action within the game.

Further additions include the environments for their new minigames, revisions to the point scoring and, as a feature many fans will surely like, hidden content, including gravure scenes between multiple characters.

There are some things they won’t be changing though, such as format for Vacation Mode, that lets you run two weeks of each girl’s life, and the fevered excitement of having fun and playing with the ever-lovable DoA girls.

If you’re in the right frame of mind for this sort of action, keep reading QJ for updates to Dead or Alive Xtreme 2. And yes… if you were in the right frame of mind for DoAX 2, you’ll probably notice a good number of double entendres made in this article. Keep your desire to own this game in check in the meantime, gamers.
