Delve deep into the Vanguard dungeons with Bill Fisher

Vanguard

Dungeons have become an important establishment for any MMORPG. A dark, scary room which could be a prison or a vault, any game developer could see the importance of dungeons in MMO gaming– it is where you can hide priced items or where you can station ruthless enemies. That’s why Sigil Games Online Senior Game Designer recently discussed what kind of dungeons could we expect from their upcoming MMO extravaganza, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

Apparently, Sigil is doing everything in their power and knowledge to bring back the fun, challenge and that eerie and hair-raising feeling to their dungeons. They plan on doing this by tweaking the power of certain types of epic NPC spells that require you to counter or suffer horribly, melee stances that maim and debilitate the players that must be reacted to, the frequency of runners, early runners, and other situations that the players will actually need to pay attention to in the group settings. Although he pointed out that as of now they have no plans of implementing a “trap” system.

And because Sigil is trying to prove something with Vanguard, the dungeon setting would highlight the player-sphere interdependence, so don’t bring a diplomat along when you’re planning a trip to a dungeon– especially one that will take you days, even weeks, to complete. Fisher discloses that their ” premier dungeons do vary in size, based on level range and the intent for the area.  Some places are utterly massive at the moment, like Stiirhad and Vol Tuniel; others are smaller.” Also there won’t be a standard dungeon teleportation system.
