Developers, retailers and publishers to participate in 2007 Gamesfives

Distinctive's Dist-Devils in 2006 Gamesfives - Image 1Dubbed as Gamesfives, the tournament originally held by UK-based MCV is now officially supported by Microsoft‘s own Xbox 360 division. Gamesfives will set retailers, developers, publishers, supplier and media against each other in a five vs. five football match-up to win Xbox 360 prizes.

Now while it would be interesting for some to see devs dribble their balls and publishers slide-stealing other publishers’ balls, we’ll place our bet with the media. There’s nothing like capturing a humiliating moment on video. And because Microsoft’s official backing promised to make the event even bigger, wouldn’t it be great if it was captured on a thousand other DV cams, too?

The tournament is planned for a June 29 launch and will take place at the Barnet Powerleague venue, North London. Teams that are slated to participate will be free from registration fees. Plus, there’s been an announcement of “free drink” (yes, singular) which might just happen to be the all the beer they’ve saved up back in late March.

Prizes to be won:

  • £1,500 donation to a charity of your choice
  • Xbox 360 for each participating member
  • Winners trophy and medals
  • 360 bottles of Cobra beer
