Dowdeswell misquoted on Mii-specific Friend Codes

Mii-specific codes not true - Image 1Here’s a little clarification to our report yesterday about the much-rumored Mii-specific Friend Codes that will be implemented on the Wii consoles.

Nintendo has always maintained that the Friends List will be unique for each video game title implying that players will have different set of friends for every online game they play. Despite this, the speculations were sparked anew because of the statements from Mario Strikers Charged Producer Justin Dowdeswell.

According to the official, he was misquoted by French online site Gamers.fr when he said that the codes generated by Miis will “remain invariably thereafter.” Dowdeswell clarified that his comments about Mii-specific codes only apply to Mario Strikers Charged.

He added that he can’t comment on how Wii’s online features will be implemented on any other Nintendo titles. Oh, well. We guess we are all back to game-specific codes once more. We still think though that having a universal list of friends for all online games is better. What do you think?
