dqmj2-surechigaiSquare Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 also has the “surechigai” feature found in Dragon Quest IX and Dragon Quest VI. Joker 2‘s crossover system has a key difference from the ones found in the latter two, however.

Surechigai mode lets the game automatically initiate battles wirelessly with other players the owner passes on the street while their DS handhelds are in sleep mode. The winner gets some sweet loot.

Aside from letting you connect to other Joker 2 players, Joker 2‘s surechigai mode will also work with Dragon Quest VI and IX. Aside from battling, you can also encounter monsters from VI and IX, scout them, and add them to your roster of allies.

This is a one-way street, though, as IX and VI players who have their games set to surechigai mode won’t get anything when you connect to them with Joker 2.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 will hit Japan on April 28. No international releases announced yet, although there have been hints about it.
