DS Lite trade-in value more than Xbox 360 in Japan

Nintendo’s DS Lite’s are flying off shelves in Japan like winged hot cakes, and as you’d expect, Japanese retailers are offering pretty substantial amounts of money for trade-ins of DS Lites. What you may not expect is that the DS Lite trade-in value has surpassed its own recommended retail price of 16,800Â¥ ($143).

DS Lites are worth for 18,000Â¥ ($153) in video game stores, whilst Microsoft’s next generation Xbox 360 consoles’ trade in price rests at a lowly15,000Â¥ ($128), matching the trade-in prices of both the PSP Value pack and a slimline silver PS2. Its the age-old system of supply and demand. More people want DS lites, demand rises, prices rise. Less people want the Xbox 360, supply is high, demand is low, prices suffer. Amazingly, an older model DS will still get you 4,000Â¥ ($119), just $9 off a 360!
