Koei, purveyors of top-notch strategy and action games, has announced that Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle, the popular tactical action series’ debut title for the Nintendo DS handheld gaming system, will be hitting North America this July. In the game, players must reunite a divided nation. That’s a pretty tall order, but thankfully they won’t have to face this challenge alone.

In Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle, players will take the role of one of three new characters, each with its own special attribute: the Phoenix (balance), the Dragon (speed), and the Chimera (power). Using a “Battle Deck” of cards, players will select up to seven of the original Dynasty Warriors to serve as officers who will defend their bases.

A new “Obstacle Roulette System” lets players unleash tactics or spells using cards from the players’ Battle Deck. The game also features a wireless Versus mode for up to three players. The Obstacle attacks could prove crucial to victory in this mode as they can disrupt an opponent’s progress.
