EA has released a formal announcement for Bulletstorm, a new shooter from Epic Games and People Can Fly. We’ve already learned a bit about the game, so let’s check out some more details. Here’s the basic plot according to the press release:
Bulletstorm tells the story of a futuristic confederation protected by an elite band of mercenaries: Dead Echo. When Dead Echo members Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato learn they’ve been working for the wrong side, they’re betrayed by their commander and exiled to the far reaches of the galaxy. In Bulletstorm, Grayson and Ishi find themselves surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs in an abandoned paradise. They have two objectives: get off the planet alive, and exact revenge on the man who sent them there.
As posted yesterday, Bulletstorm places more importance on creative kills than one headshot after another. Bulletstorm protagonist Grayson Hunt has a bunch of distinct “skllshots” at his disposal. The system which governs these shots rewards players for using them in the most creative way possible.
Basically, the more insane a skillshot is, the greater the rewards a player reaps. These rewards can then be used by players to upgrade their character and unlock weapons that in turn give them access to even more moves and skillshots.
Bulletstorm will be available on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 next year.
