EA mum on Rock Band peripherals pricing
From the way that things are looking right now, Rock Band for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (PS3) may turn out to be a cool game with a not-so-cool price. As the latest computations go, the video game title itself will be sold for around US$ 60, but since it is a rhythm-based game, there is a high possibility that it may need its own set of band peripherals – a drum set which costs US$ 80, a microphone for US$ 40 and two guitars (one for rhythm and another for bass) for US$ 80 or US$ 60 – depending if you want it wired or not.
The numbers above were taken from retail chain GameStop as it has began taking pre-orders for accessories for Rock Band. Despite this, Electronic Arts (EA) is yet to confirm or deny these prices, and when gaming site Eurogamer’s representatives tried speaking with the company, EA simply wouldn’t give any comments.
Before that shocks everyone though, you might want to know that it may be possible to trim down the price a bit for a complete Rock Band experience. Reports are now circulating that the guitar peripheral being used on Guitar Hero, whether for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 2 (PS2), may actually be compatible with Rock Band.
As for where all these reports began, it started when Harmonix Games developer Jason Booth dropped by Rock Band‘s official community site and posted that, “For some reason, IGN posted that Rock Band will not be compatible with Guitar Hero guitars. I thought I’d drop in and let you know that this is not correct.”
We just hope EA would come out in the open and clarifies these things once and for all. In the meantime, we guess we’ll just have to chill out and rock on.
