EA names Michael Giacchino as Medal of Honor: Airborne’s lead composer

Medal of Honor: Airborne composer Michael Giacchino - Image 1 A video game’s soundtrack may go unnoticed for some, but it is an essential part of the entire gaming experience. When you’re running out of time during a game, notice how the music suddenly goes faster? It sets the mood for certain things and certain people are very good at setting certain moods for video games.

One of those certain people is Michael Giacchino. He’s an award-winning composer and he’s coming back to Electronic Arts‘ Medal of Honor franchise as lead composer for the latest one, Airborne. Giacchino previously worked on the soundtracks of three other Medal of Honor titles: Underground, Allied Assault, and Frontline. If you’re still wondering if he’s worthy of composing the soundtrack for Medal of Honor: Airborne, he also worked on television series (“Lost” and “Alias”) and movie (“Mission: Impossible III” and “The Incredibles”) soundtracks.

Giacchino expressed enthusiasm on doing the project:

IÂ’m very excited to have the opportunity to work on a game that tells such an epic, honest story. The Medal of Honor Airborne team is a very talented group of people and working with them on creating music to fit their innovative game was a true highlight for me. Video games are another vehicle to tell a story, and music plays a vital role in that.

Anyway, Medal of Honor: Airborne is set to hit the shelves on August 24 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. We’ll be giving you more updates on this upcoming WWII title when they become available, so stay tuned.
