EI Interactive Takes Over Horizons From Tulga Games

horizons

At first, it looked like a another takeover in the current wave of Corporate  Merger Mania…but no, that wasn’t the case.

It is true, however, that Tulga games has surrendered its flagship product, Horizons: Empire of Istaria to Montana media company EI Interactive. Originally published by Atari three years ago, this game seems to be handed around like a bottle of cheap wine, yet in light of the multiple awards won by Horizons as well as player reactions and industry opinion, it would appear to be a valuable property – a “world class MMORPG” by any definition.

So, what gives?

The press has given few hints as to the reason Horizons was sold to EI. What is obvious, however, is that EI Interactive is quite aware of the potential of their new property. They assure the gaming community that they are committed to maintaining the integrity of the Horizons way of gaming and will continue the Horizons support in a new office in Phoenix, Arizona.

EI Chairman Edward C. Andercheck issued the following statement:

“The magic of Horizons is not only in its uniquely supportive community, but also in the deep potential this game has for a player’s participation in building the environment and growing the storyline…the success EI has had in building the Savage Eden community is a great testimony to our in-game event teams efforts, we look forward to the same experience in Horizons.”
