In a chart that Enterbrain recently released, it showed that Nintendo was able to sell more than five million units in Japan from December 2, 2006 to January 20, 2008. Along with this information, data for the top five games for the console were also provided.

And we’re not talking about physical aspect mind you but rather the sales. Enterbrain has just released the latest information on how many units Nintendo has sold for the console the Wii.

Get ready for this. All in all, the system has sold a total 5,019,337 units since it officially launched on December 2, 2006 to January 20, 2008. It took the console sixty weeks to reach the five million mark, running closely to the Ninteno DS’s fifty-six week record. The Wii also managed to bump off the PS2‘s sixty-six weeks.

Also, take into consideration the games that were released for the console. Along with the sales of the Wii, here are the top five highest-selling Wii games for the period:

  1. Wii Sports – 2,663,938 units
  2. Wii Play – 2,139,084 units
  3. Mario Party 8 – 1,153,648 units
  4. Wii Fit – 1,113,626 units
  5. Super Mario Galaxy – 843,961 units
