ESA: a third of adults will give video games as holiday gifts - Image 1It seems that this holiday season isn’t just a time for making merry, but for handing out surveys as well.

According to data gathered by KRC Research, which in turn were provided by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), around 30% of American adults are estimated to give video games as gifts during the season.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The ESA-bared KRC Research poll also indicated that more than 34% of adults will be playing video games with friends or family during the holidays, making video games not only the gift of choice, but the pastime of choice for adult Americans.

The ESA noted that the adults’ common reasons for wanting to play video games with others was because they enjoyed doing so, and because playing video games was a means for them to relax from all the holiday stress.

The ESA neglected to mention, however, exactly what kinds of games the respondents intend to play. For all we know, they may be eyeing Manhunt 2 (PSP, Wii) or any Grand Theft Auto game, for that matter.
