For those of us currently trawling the dark vastness of space in CCP Games‘ EVE Online, here’s a bit of news that should get you chomping at the bit in anticipation for the game’s upcoming Trinity update: a sneak peek at just how much better the game’s already groundbreaking graphics are going to look, come the update’s arrival. This is courtesy of the two screenshots at the top of this article, with one taken before the patch and one after. No points on guessing which is which.

Of course, while the graphics do seem to get a considerable souping-up, the guys in charge at EVE Online promises that Trinity’s not just about making things look better. Far from it, the update will sport a lot of new content, from Tech II ships to more agent missions and combat advancements. In the meantime, though, let’s just stare at these babies and marvel at how one update can drastically increase the quality of a game’s graphics. Next-gen EVE Online? It definitely looks that way.
