Everquest II Game Designers Clue You In

lok1If you play Everquest II and have had some burning questions about The Behemoth, the possible return of the gods, Book Pages or what the “strange black rock” might be, some answers are forthcoming from the game designers themselves.

According to one calling himself Vhalen, the Behemoth is “is a creature of legend, a legend so ancient that it was lost to time.” Apparently, an acquaintance of his – a noted scholar – confirms the existence of remains, found in the Nektulos Forest and dating from the Age of War, indicating that recorded sightings of this beast may have been more than hallucination.

On the subject of the gods’ return, Nocturnal Abyss relates this story:

“There was an event not that long ago where the Overlord himself, Lucan D’Lere, came out, and gave a big speech to the masses of Freeport, commenting on how the gods weren’t much of gods, and as a sort of nail in the coffin, he signaled a dark elf behind him who sent magic up into the air, causing it to rain.  It’s been raining fairly regularly in the Commonlands and in Freeport ever since.”

To which Moorgard responds:

“No doubt the Overlord would indeed take credit for anything beneficial that takes place in the Commonlands, though all the while paying careful attention to any forces that manifest themselves so close to the seat of his kingdom.” Who knows, but that the gods may be lurking nearby…?

Regarding Book Pages, designer Owlchick informs us that they can only be obtained by “clickies,” corpses, body loot and (occasionally) chests, and harvests.  The book page system is rather involved, and there are many caveats.

Finally, regarding the “mysterious black rock,” Ilucide says that since tradeskillers can no longer make palladium stones, the scholar’s preference is that it be bangle-mounted. He wouldn’t turn down a torque found out in the wilds, however…
