Expect XPlayer in 2007?
It seems as though a secret is a hard thing to keep when you’ve got all the right connections. The anxiously anticipated handheld Xplayer has been in development in Redmond, WA with J. Allard (Xbox Live) and Greg Gibson (Xbox 360 system designer) heading up the production team.
Microsoft has not come out with the Xplayers features but some of the possible capabilities would include playing music and movies, and of course games as Dean Takahashi, author of The Xbox 360 Uncloaked.
Microsoft is currently working on a digital-distribution service, code named “Alexandria that would be used with the Xplayer and Xbox Live. They have also made a deal with Epic Records to incorporate music videos to the Xbox Live allowing players to play online against a monthly Artist of the month.
The Xplayer is being designed for the mass market so the price point will be affordable… and yes, the image above is just a mock up.
