Eye of the North: the last expansion before Guild Wars 2

get ready for Guild Wars 2 - Image 1The Guild Wars universe is set to expand this year with Eye of the North. This expansion is scheduled to be released during Q3, though pricing has yet to be revealed by NCSoft. Not too surprisingly, this expansion will be the last of them all, accordng to the company.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be any more Guild Wars goodies for us, however. This will be the last add-on coming your way before they officially release a complete new Guild Wars game.

The expansiont is said to be less than the campaigns already existing, and that you would have to own at least one of the previously released campaigns (ie. Nightfall, Factions or Prophecies) in order for you to get to play. There are 18 new multi-level dungeons for you to get immersed into, as well as 40 new armour sets. You’ll get to know 10 new Heroes and imbibe 150 new skills, of which 50 will exclusively belong to PvE.

We’re just as sure that you’d also want to know about the new sequel. Guild Wars 2 is expected to be finished and ready for mass consumption by the years 2009-2010. If things go according to plan, then you just might get to see the public beta sometime next year.

The story is set several hundred years post-GW: Prophecies, and they say you should look out for new events that feature a “refined control system, oriented for action and ease of use.” There will also be a level cap, although there’s still no exact word as to how high it will be. What is known, however, is that the playable races will include the following: Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians.

Busy days sure are here for the guys at NCSoft. As for us, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on more news as they come in.
