Facts on the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset

Front

Microsoft opted to reveal to us the following features of their Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with a fact sheet it sent out. Obviously the thing’s wireless… aside from that, ear grips of the thing are removable, the headset’s ergonomic, and the entire product should fit comfortably on either ear. The on/of, volume, and mute controls are (as Microsoft says) where you need them. Personally I’m thinking, what if you have really, really big ears and this won’t fit?

Microsoft assures us that you’ll be able to hear each other clearly over Xbox Live. The headset also supports voice commands for selected games. The company also boasts that you can use up to four Wireless Headsets and four Wireless Controllers simultaneously per console.

The headset sports up to eight hours of battery life per charge and it includes an AC wall adapter just in case you need to recharge. It uses the same 2.4 Ghz radio technology that their wireless controllers use, and its maximum range is around 30 feet. Not that you’d want to be that far from your TV, unless you’re giving out voice commands while doing your homework.

As with all other info companies like Microsoft releases to the press, the bits above are subject to change or modification upon commercial release. It’s safe to say though that so far, the features mentioned are what the headsets will have. It’s good to see that even if there are a lot of other headsets available out there, Microsoft is still willing to shell out for official stuff. It’s always good to have options, right?
