You may recall the original line of Brandish games appearing from the early to late 90’s in Japan on the SNES and PC. If you don’t, that’s understandable since only one of them has an English version: Koei’s 1995 SNES port of the first game.
This latest entry into the series will have the swordsman Ares and the sorceress Dela (or Varik and Alexis as they’re known in the US) returning for another dungeon crawl. The new game will feature revamped graphics and more tolerant game mechanics for new users (for example, you can now save anywhere).
Veterans of the game will be pleased to know that they’re keeping the focus on puzzle solving and strategic boss fights, which the original games were known for.
Brandish: The Dark Revenant will be released in Japan on March 19.
