Fallout 3 - Image 1Bethesda’s star just keeps rising doesn’t it? According to a recent press release from the ZeniMax Media company (Bethesda Softworks), Fallout 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) has, as of last week, shipped approximately 4.7 million copies worldwide across all platforms. Supposedly, those same 4.7 million units are representative of roughly US$ 300 million in retail sales.

This should come as no surprise considering that the world’s been waiting for this game for 10 years now and its commonly recognized as one of the most anticipated games of 2008. You may recall a previous article we wrote about the Fallout 3 release in the UK which saw it become the top selling game on all platforms in just two days. Now that’s an impressive level of hype.

There’s real meat behind the hype too. Already, the post-apocalyptic shooter/RPG has been netting perfect 10 review scores from numerous critics including those from online publications and game review sites.

The successful launch of Fallout 3 by Bethesda Softworks follows the success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which remains one of the highest scoring games ever published and earned “Game of the Year” honors in 2006.

Impressive work Bethesda… though why no PS3 DLC if you’ve got so much money?
