Final Fantasy VII for PS3?

When a tech demo was displayed at the E3 showing the intro to the original Final Fantasy VII rendered with the Playstation 3, speculation spread that the PS3 may well get a full conversion of the game when the console is released.

Now it seems the rumour’s been revived, by U.S. gaming mag Electronic Gaming Monthly. They claim that Square Enix are working on a new FFVII for the Playstation 3, though there are no further details available at this point, and the claim hasn’t been confirmed yet by Square Enix:

“ EGM offers no source for its rumour claim, though this would seem an easy fix to the dual problem of delivering an early-lifecycle RPG to the PlayStation 3 and sating the desire for more FFVII.”
