Fine, no PSP price cut… but more games, more “value”

How are you spending the holidays with your PSP?

It’s been said again and again: the PSP will not get a price cut. [insert collective sigh] But the higher-ups of Sony sure are eyeing some other avenues that will please the fans. Product manager John Koller has this to say: “We don’t necessarily see the need to cut the price. We need to offer broader value and introduce new consumers to what the PSP can do.”

Koller says that there’s going to be a line-up of around 110 new titles that’ll be available between now and the end of the year. People who still don’t own a PSP just might buy into that and get the handheld because of these new games. And since the device is a powerhouse that allows you to play games, download videos, and play media files, holiday shoppers would still bite into the “uncut” price of the PSP.

But wait… there’s more. There’s already been (heated) talks about how the PSP will integrate with the upcoming PS3. Koller adds that they’re going to release more details about it soon. Won’t that boost up sales for the handheld console? To think some people even said the PSP has already “failed”… Really? Has it? Ah. We haven’t seen nothing yet…

Because who knows? While the PSP won’t get a price cut, maybe they’d release a PS3-PSP bundle pack for the holidays… Double whammy like whoa. Hurry up, Sony!
