Flying Lab Software on the PotBS group conquest missions

A logo for Pirates of the Burning Sea - Image 1Most people would prefer not to experience unrest. Ironically, the opposite seems to be the case with Pirates of the Burning Sea. Flying Lab Software makes this easier with the new group conquest missions. Read all about them in the full article, right after the jump.

PvP with friends in the PotBS group conquest missions - Image 1How would you like to grab some of your friends and start stirring up or reducing social unrest? That, according to Gavin Irby of Flying Lab Software, is part of Pirates of the Burning Sea Patch 1.3.

Whether it’s acting as the vanguard for an invasion force or protecting a fort from attackers, the end result is the same: a PvP experience.

Irby mentioned three considerations that Flying Lab Software had to take into account for the repeatable PotBS group content missions:

  1. It needed to be strike the proper balance between being challenging enough for a group of 4-6 players while still being reasonable enough to complete on a regular basis.
  2. It needed to require a team effort wherein delegation of responsibility and finesse took priority over mere zerging.
  3. It had to be easily scalable for level.

These considerations led to a couple of interesting features: deadly “gunboat swarms” and  cannons in avatar space for defense. Irby noted that the rest of PotBS development team got together to test and tweak these new combat options.

The group conquest missions form part of the new content in Pirates of the Burning Sea. Stay tuned for more patch updates from Flying Lab Software in the near future.
