Flying mounts shot down (again) in Azeroth

WoW flying mounts get shot down once again in Azeroth - Image 1The continuing flight, err, plight of players being able to use flying mounts in Azeroth (and not just the Outland) has recently been sparked up once again with one of the simplest suggested solutions we’ve heard. Finneus suggests: “how difficult could it be to allow Flying mounts to be used in Azeroth as well – just keep them grounded?”

He does understand that allowing full-fledged fliers in Azeroth would require some massive system overhaul. But simply taking the flying mounts and importing them to Azeroth sans the flying ability would be the “logical middle ground.” True, true. Blue boy Drysc was quick to give a response though.

It’s more of a design decision on what feels right in the game. We don’t really want them to be used as ground mounts in Azeroth as there’s a disconnect there with being on a mount that can fly, but not being able to fly it. You can only mount a flying mount in Outland. That’s a clear definition. Now if you could mount in Azeroth and Outland, but only fly in Outland, it causes a disconnection there for the player and the flying mechanic which is usually going to lead to frustration.

Umm, yeah. What he said. Put that way, I actually agree with the big D. For one thing, having a flying mount that you can’t take to the air just basically defeats its whole purpose. However, I still stand by Finneus; his suggestion could be considered a middle ground of this whole issue. So, what’s your take on it?
