E3 was a little skimpy this year, sure, but we did get a bone from Nintendo, who finally announced a Wii voice chat solution, WiiSpeak. So what are the games that will be using the mic? Not a lot, let me tell you. It’s a new peripheral, what can you do.

The first game announced for the peripheral WiiSpeak was Animal Crossing: City Folk. To be honest with you I was a little let down, as I felt some games would have benefited from the peripheral more.

Thankfully, my prayers were answered. High Voltage Software‘s The Conduit was also revealed to use WiiSpeak during E3 week, which is a boon for the FPS game as its multiplayer mode will support up to 16 players at once.

There are also talks that the latest Call of Duty game, World at War, will also feature support for the peripheral – although for the life of me I can’t find where this news originated. I hear it pitched around here and there, but I’ve yet to find a press release or read an official announcement from either Nintendo or Activision.

Still, everyone who does talk about it seem to be talking about it with confidence, so I’ll just take it for granted until someone says otherwise. (And besides, I really want to believe it’s true.) If any of you can direct me to the actual announcement, give a holler down at the comments.
