Gamestop Planning To Add Kiosks For Wii And PS3 In All Stores

GamestopIn an effort to try to boost their dipping profits despite a huge jump in sales during the second quarter of this year, international video games and entertainment software retailer Gamestop has announced plans to construct sections in their 4,400 stores that will be devoted to next-gen consoles such as the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. This step is expected to be carried out by September to prepare for the much-awaited release of these consoles to the public later this year.

By making these modifications, company officials are hoping to encourage their audience to buy more games. Whether having these additions in their stores will allow customers to sample the said game consoles even before their actual release dates, though, has not been specified.

On top of that, the company has also cited strong sales of titles for Nintendo DS and Xbox 360, noting that their best-sellers include Nintendo’s New Super Mario Bros. and Electronic ArtsNCAA Football 07. Gamestop is also currently expecting the pre-orders and sales for next week’s Madden 07 to set records for the store as demands for Xbox 360 games are on the rise.

There have also been previous reports that Gamestop is also hoping to make a profit by taking pre-orders for the PS3 and the Wii, though the company’s officials are still waiting for word from Sony and Nintendo before issuing any further word about this matter.
