GC 2006: SEGA Serves Up New Virtua Tennis 3 Info

Sega have showed off some new Virtua Tennis 3 information for all the PSP owners waiting for the smash Tennis title to hit their portable console. Yes – this is Virtua Tennis 3, a brand new title that will also be released alongside the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the same game. This won’t just please old Virtua Tennis fans either, attracting a new crowd with the announcement of a brand new World Tour mode for the game. But PSP owners aren’t the only ones who benefit from the wealth of information Sega have released today. The rest applies to all of the formats which include PC, PS3, PSP and the Xbox 360.

The revised World tour mode coupled with 10 new mini-games plus two old favourites; this will be a game that you pick up and won’t be able to stop playing. Sega have also released information on a multiplayer modes, especially something called ‘Court games’. With Court games you will be able to play variants of the 10 Virtua Tennis 3 minigames against up to three human opponents, presumably using the PSPs WiFi Ad-Hoc feature for the portable version, although it could also feature online infrastructure mode play.

Sega have also revelled in telling us that a number of tennis starts will be getting in on the action too. For the women there’s Amelie Mauresmo, 2006 Wimbledon Champion and World No. 1 along with the world-renowned Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams and Martina Hingis. Nicole Vaidisova, Lindsay Davenport and Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova completing the line-up of playable female figures.

As for the men, you can expect four times Wimbledon Champion Roger Federer to lead the way,alongside World No.2 Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Tim Henman and Lleyton Hewitt. Newcomers James Blake, Mario Ancic, Gael Monfils and Taylor Dent also put in an appearance while global tennis stars David Nalbandian, Sebastien Grosjean, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and Tommy Haas.
