GDC 2007: Warhawk Beta
IGN informs that at the Game Developers Conference 2007, Incognito Entertainment‘s Dylan Jobe, Game Director for Warhawk, announced that Incog and Sony were having internal discussions on the possibility of starting a public beta test for Warhawk.
Jobe believes that a beta test for Warhawk would be very beneficial for the developers as it would act as both a demo for the game and a stress test for Sony’s servers. Jobe also comments that because of its download only nature, he believes that Warhawk shouldn’t be a full-priced product. However, one must note that Jobe has no control over Sony’s eventual pricing of the game.
Okay, two things to be hopeful about. Firstly, that the beta pushes through: Warhawk should help RFOM along in kick-starting an online community on the PlayStation 3. Secondly, that Sony listen to Jobe: given the already high cost of entry into the PlayStation 3 experience, cheaper games should make the initial pain to the wallet worth it in the long run.
