More aliens to kill means more blood and carnal satisfaction. Since their Emergence Day, these guys have been breeding like (ubiquitous pun coming in 3, 2, 1) raving rabbids.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how sales are going for Gears of War. In fact, the think tanks at Microsoft are betting their bottom dollar that Epic Games‘ title will rake in sales of more than one million copies worldwide by Christmas. According to Microsoft statistics, GoW is already the most-played game on Xbox Live, especially in Europe.

Given that, let’s try to check for ourselves the possibility of this “one million” prophecy, shall we? Here are some facts we know concerning Europe:

• GoW comes out today (November 17)
• The Wii console comes out on December 8
• The PS3 console is set to be released by March

With these three factoids, we see how an already-established game like GoW has a lead start against the Wii and PS3. And by the time those consoles come out, European gamers would already have been so immersed in GoW. When the holidays hit, this game would be one of the more recognizable items on the shelves.

To make it harder for Christmas shoppers to choose, they’re even putting up a Limited Edition that contains a nifty little booklet and a bonus disc of more content.
