Gears of War novelist writes Gears of War 3 storyline

Now that the Gears of War 3 cat is out of the bag, more information are now pouring in as to its ongoing development. Today, we find out that no other than science fiction author Karen Traviss is the one penning the storyline for the third iteration of Epic Games’ blockbuster franchise.

Karen Traviss, if you may recall, wrote the Gears of War: The Battle of Aspho Fields novel, released back in 2008. Epic was so happy with how she wrote that first in the book trilogy that they called her back again for Gears of War 2: Jacinto’s Remnant. And now, yet again, this time, not for her third Gears novel, but instead for the third game.

 

 

 

Rod Fergusson, Executive Producer for Epic, told how they came with the decision to have Karen write it. “We’ve always carefully itnegrated the books and the games,” he said. “But now that Karen’s writing the game as well, the storyline is even more tightly woven.”

 

 

 

“All the characters have a rich and troubled history, and the events between the second and third games plunge them into an even more desperate struggle to survive. The fourth book is essential reading for all Gearhads before they dive into the final game of the trilogy.”

 

 

 

Traviss is the Lead Writer for Gears of War 3. If you’ve read her novels, you might have an idea of what to expect with this iteration’s storyline, at least quality-wise.
