Gran Turismo 5 cost US$ 60 million to make
Gran Turismo 5 is a big game. The car count alone attests to that. Of course, games cost money, and big ones even more so. So just how money much did Polyphony Digital use to make Gran Turismo 5? Almost as much as Shenmue, apparently.
Gran Turismo 5 is a big game. The car count alone attests to that. Of course, games cost money, and big ones even more so. So just how money much did Polyphony Digital use to make Gran Turismo 5? US$ 60 million, says boss Kazunori Yamauchi.
Yamauchi made the revelation during an interview with Autoweek.com. He further added, “There are other games that cost more. Considering the size and scale of the game, I think it’s probably a fairly small amount.”
Yamauchi didn’t make it clear if that figure includes marketing costs, but it’s still pretty high. It’s still way less than Grand Theft Auto 4‘s estimated US$ 100 million budget, though.
