Gran Turismo 5 Prologue pre-orders break 1 million in SCEE turf

GT5 Prologue - Image 1The highly-anticipated racing sim Gran Turismo 5 Prologue from Polyphony Digital is on the home stretch of its pre-release period and already, some very serious sales figures are mounting. According to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe execs based in New Zealand, they already have the first PlayStation 3 pre-release platinum locked down, and that’s on their jurisdiction alone. GT5 Prologue - Image 1As Polyphony Digital approaches the release finish line for their upcoming racer Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, a warm welcome can already be seen in the horizon. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, New Zealand (SCEE NZ)Â’s Marketing Manager Dave Hine was quoted as saying that pre-orders are already over one million in their jurisdiction alone.

New Zealand site Geek Pulp also reports that SCEE NZ expects the downloadable version and the Blu-ray release of GT5 Prologue to be equally popular.  Sony cites the kind of reception that earlier release Warhawk enjoyed as a basis for the prediction.

GT5 Prologue was released last December in Japan, and will launch in PAL territories come March 27th via download on the PlayStation Network. The Blu-ray disc version will hit store shelves a day earlier on the 26th. North American fans will have to wait until April 17th to get their high-octane fixes both via the PSN or Blu-ray discs.
