Guinness fan-voting makes Halo “top” game of all time
While there are many Guinness records that one might deem needless, the evaluating body is still hard at work in distinguishing hoaxes from the legit. That means your grandma’s story of making a quilt big enough to cover Texas won’t cut it. But what if it’s a fan-voted record? For the Top 50 Games of all time, the fans voted, and the Halo series came out on top.
“We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition,” said Gaz Deaves, Guinness World Records Gaming Editor. “Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves! We are confident that this ‘top 50’ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics.”
In their list, for the most part, Guinness didn’t seem to take individual games but entire series collectively. Makes one wonder about the credibility about their endeavor, but then again, they did it for the fans. Curious about the Top 50? Here they are:
