Halo 3 will help BlackSite: Area 51 sales, says Midway

BlackSite: Area 51 - Image 1While Halo 3 comes to mind first when talking about Xbox 360 and FPS, Midway Games doesn’t look at their upcoming BlackSite: Area 51 as a game behind the big title’s shadow. In fact, lead campaign designer Ricardo Bare believes that their game will ride the wave Microsoft is expecting.

“Whenever you go and see a really bad ass action movie like X-Men, it just makes you want to go and see Spider-Man 3, right? You usually want more of the same,” Bare told CVG. He added, “Some people subscribe to the fact that when something really huge comes out, it helps the other two or three really good games that also come out, because you want more FPS action.”

That’s not to say they’re making a Halo clone, “It’s not like we’re offering the same thing, we’re offering a really cool, gritty atmosphere and the squad – Halo 3 doesn’t have a squad.”

To further gain more interest from FPS fans, Midway will be releasing Blacksite: Area 51‘s demo for both PS3 and Xbox 360 which will include a new campaign level and online multiplayer. Expect the full game on the shelves come September.
