Halo Wars for Germans?

Halo

Eurogamer reports that Ensemble Studios’ RTS take on Bungie‘s much loved universe, Halo Wars, is specifically made with the European gamer in mind. This is from a top Microsoft exec that they wined and dined with during the post-X06 party.

As weird as it may sound, they actually quoted this: “It’s for the Germans.” Wait, if you’ve played the Medal of Honor games one too many times, it’s not what you’re thinking. Here’s the rest of what he said: “We think this genre of game is perfectly suited to Germany, northern and eastern Europe. It illustrates our desire to release games that are appropriate for gamers in all markets.”

Not really a big surprise from Microsoft, since they’re giving Asian markets a treat with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.  If you want people in the east to play on your console, who better to go to than Final Fantasy creator Mr. Sakaguchi? I guess they’re just really trying to make sure that the Xbox 360 will sell better by helping produce region “targeted” content for their console.

Will this move, along with XNA, help Microsoft win the console war? Time will tell.
