Harrison keeps mum on PS3 March launch date
It may be wrong for us to raise some concern, but during an interview with the official PlayStation magazine, Sony Worldwide Studios’ Phil Harrison didn’t want to give a statement or even to comment on the said console’s March release.
According to the big boss, “Given that all of our previous statements about launching in Europe simultaneously with the US and Japan turned out not to be the case, I would not like to make any definitive statements on that.” He also added that it’s not his job to issue statements regarding hardware supply issues.
While the executive didn’t not want to discuss anything related to launch, he was rather open to talk about the PS3 browser. When asked if it allows users to browse other sites and download files, he firmly answered: “No. It has to be done through the store. Although itÂ’s built on the same technology as the open Internet browser, itÂ’s a special version. ThatÂ’s completely understandable from a DRM point of view.” He added however that some streaming sites like MySpace will work.
Furthermore, Phil Harrison also expressed his delight on the console’s strong first party launch line-up. In a few days, PlayStation 3 will be launching in the Americas together with titles Resistance, Genji, NBA, Motorstorm and an F1 downloadable demo.
