High Impact Games reveal Secret Agent Clank details, demo, bonuses - Image 1High Impact Games was recently interviewed regarding their studio’s upcoming PlayStation Portable title Secret Agent Clank. Aside from spilling out a lot of details, the development studio confirmed our report yesterday that their game will be able to connect to other Ratchet video games.

First and foremost, Lead Designer David Goodrich said that they utilized Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters‘ game engine for Secret Agent Clank. Despite that, the two games are different from each other in the sense that the new one has expanded into new game types such as timing and stealth.

While new game modes will also be introduced, Secret Agent Clank will have no multiplayer component:

Secret Agent Clank is a very story intensive game with lots of unique gameplay elements. We have decided to focus our efforts on the single player game to make a really engrossing experience for the player. There is no multiplayer planned for this installment of the game.

Speaking of storyline, the new title revolves around the gallant efforts of Clank to rescue Ratchet who has been charged with a crime he didn’t commit. Ratchet was thrown into prison where his former adversaries are plotting a way to get back at him. Ratchet has to make sure there’s someone left alive to rescue when Clank returns with the proper evidence.

Aside from the already confirmed connection with PlayStation 3 title Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, David Goodrich also mentioned that those who’ve played Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters will also benefit from this game. Fellow designer Ken Strickland reminded:

We want to reward those happy souls that have already made the leap to the Ratchet & Clank experience on the PSP, and this seemed like a fine way to do it. We’re not ready to reveal the exact nature of the bonus, but this is a good time and place to remind folks not to free up that block of memory just yet.

High Impact Games Assistant Project Manager Leviticus Davis, furthermore, revealed that a demo for Secret Agent Clank will be released in the future. “The demo will include two, maybe three, exciting segments that will give everyone a sneak peek at what happens when Clank finally gets the chance to shine as the lead character,” said Davis.

Finally, regarding their working relationship with Sony, the studio’s design director Lesley Mathieson commented, “Sony‘s dedication to quality has given us the time and flexibility we need to turn out fun, creative products. They have been wonderful people to interact with on all stages of the games.”
