Hour of Victory, minute of screenshots

They didn't tell me, when I signed up for OSS, that this would be SUICIDE!!! - Image 1

The first thing this Commandos vet mentioned after seeing news of Hour of Victory from Midway Games was “someone retired the big pointer in the sky for this game.” You have to understand: this game takes the elements of the specialized covert action soldier class-driven gameplay of the RTT Commandos, then trades the overhead perspective for the ground-level perspective of the shooter (not to mention dispenses with some of the team).

Definitely more action-oriented than Commandos. Based on looking at these stills from CVG (and reading up on the fact sheet), it’s got kinda more of the on-your-toes special operations feel than the slower and highly cerebral pace of the other game. Doesn’t make HoV an easier game, though – it’ll get its own challenges to overcome.

I’d just like to ask Midway Games or nFusion, from one Commandos vet, could you toss in the man trap as a bonus weapon in the final release? That was loads fun in the old days. Plant trap in patrol path, hide, wait for the screaming to stop. Delightful. (Okay, there was no screaming from man traps in Commandos…)
