Hokuto no Ken — known as Fist of the North Star outside Japan — is full of muscular badasses who can melt your flesh with a flick of their fingers roaming across post-apocalyptic wastes. Hokuto Musou, Koei Tecmo‘s newly announced Fist of the North Star game, follows that aesthetic to a tee.
The game’s story mode stays true to the manga, following Hokuto Shinken master Kenshiro as he journeys to find his girlfriend Yuria and eventually confronting the conqueror Raoh. There’s also another mode that will feature a brand new storyline, but it’s still being kept under wraps for now.
Koei Tecmo is also sticking close to the series’ ultra violent nature. Players will be able to make enemies explode on-screen with Kenshiro’s Hokuto Shinken techniques. His iconic rapid punch move is also in there.
Finally, here are the first screenshots from the game. No blurry scans this time, folks. Most of these are stills from the opening, but the last two are actual gameplay shots. The in-game graphics look like they still needs some polishing, but hopefully the devs can pull it off.
Hokuto Musou is tracking a 2010 Japanese release on PS3 and Xbox 360. Koei Tecmo hasn’t said anything about releasing this game stateside yet, but considering how Koei USA was the one who released the above info to Siliconera, there may yet be hope.
