Imagine Publishing relaunches Next3 magazine as PSU3

Next3 no more, PlayStation Unlimited 3 to be the next market leader? - Image 1Recently, Imagine Publishing has announced the relaunch and renaming of Next3, UK’s only magazine dedicated to the PS3. Originally launched last August 10, 2006, it came out priced at £4. With a print run of 50,000 copies and an expected release of 13 issues per annum, it was set up to become the premier PS3 magazine.

Now Next3 at its relaunch will now be called PSU3 or PlayStation Unlimited 3. The redesign of the magazine includes a restyled news section and a Network section that highlights the PlayStation 3Â’s multimedia and networking capabilities.

This redesign hopefully will be more female friendly as opposed to the original release of the magazine that was “targeted at a techno-savvy adult male audience”, according to Gaminatrix.com. Next3 was also targeted toward early adopters to the PS3 and was largely based on the Sony specifications. Now we should expect a more hands-on approach on how PlayStation Unlimited 3 will handle the news.

According to Nick Jones, Editor-In-Chief of Imagine PublishingÂ’s PlayStation titles:

Now that we’ve been able to sample the PlayStation 3 hardware and software and assess its unique capabilities we’re in a position to include content, and to style the magazine, to better target and service PlayStation 3’s early adopters – the readers who make up our core audience. We also felt that a name change would be the best way to indicate to the reader that the magazine has had a major overhaul.

PSU3 is currently the only magazine in the market that’s entirely dedicated to the PlayStation 3. If you’re interested in picking up a copy of the PSU3, the first issue will be out on March 29 for about £4 (about US$ 8).
