Is account lending the same as account sharing?

It’s a known fact on World of Warcraft that if you share your account, you’ll be banned. It seems though that for some, there are some loopholes with this policy by Blizzard. For one, is account sharing the same as account lending?

Yes and No. You see, like most things in life there are gray areas on this matter. For example, giving out your user name and password for someone to level your character is grounds for deletion; however, letting your child use your account to play WoW is not. This specific topic has sparked a lot of talk between people in the forums. Blizzard Poster/Forum Moderator Ommra gave a few words of wisdom on the topic.

The only person who should have the account details is YOU. No one else. No cats, siblings, brothers, sisters. Maybe parents, so they can use the parental control. The reason for this is safety. Your account just isn’t safe if you go share the details with people. It is your responsibility to keep your account safe.

Not meaning to sound harsh, just wanted to make it clear once and for all 🙂

That’s well and good, but it doesn’t really clear up the topic. What constitutes a banning from lending? If I let my friend play on my account because he wanted to try the game out on higher levels, is this reason for Blizzard to ban me? Do they simply wash their hands in case I check my account one morning to find my Shaman stripped of all its equips? What do you guys think?
