So what is the “Isle of the Nameless Training”? Well, as its name suggests, it’s where you go to have some PvP training. Of course, you won’t necessarily learn everything you need to know in this place, but it’s a good start.

So how does training commence? Basically, you need to take a quest from the Guide (that’s the “Nameless Masters Quest”) which involves talking to at least three Masters situated in the area. There are a lot of Masters in the isle, so we can guarantee that you won’t run out of NPCs to talk to. Each Master has something unique to teach you, so you might want to talk to all of them if you’re new to PvP.

And what exactly do these Masters offer? Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Master of Combat: This guy offers errr… combat lessons. He has dummies that have 480 health for you to beat up, so feel free to go on a dummy-bashing spree. The damage you inflict on the dummies shows up on the screen, so you’ll have an idea how much damage you deal to an opponent.
  • Master of Area Effects: Nukers will find this guy helpful, as he has dummies for you to cast area-of-effect skills (AoE) with.
  • Master of Magic: This is the go-to guy for Hex and Enchantment 101. Turns out that hexes and enchantments show up as auras around a character, and he has torches for you to try out the effect. Cool, huh? Radioactive effects aside, the hex and enchantment markers prove to be quite handy when calling targets in PvP combats.
  • Master of Conditions: Blind? Crippled? Poisoned? Go to this guy for more info on conditions, such as their effects, and how they look like both on the health bar and on characters inflicted with it.
  • Master of Bows: Rangers might find this guy helpful, as he teaches stuff like elevation principles and bow range. Yep, that’s Ranger lingo for you, so better bring a bow with you when you talk to him.
  • Master of Resurrection: Call him the “Monk Guy” if you want, but his “lectures” on life, death, and death penalties are enlightening for any character, regardless of its profession. Errr no, he’s not starting his own religion.
  • Master of Blocking: Defense is as important as offense, so you might want to go to this guy for some basic blocking moves. You can also observe some GvG (Guild vs. Guild) combat to see how more body-blocking action.
  • Master of Items: If you got item questions, this guy probably knows the answer. He has a couple of items as well, like levers, flags and an obelisk flag stand, that you will normally encounter in PvP combat.
  • Master of Winds: He casts Windborne Speed, which boosts your movement speed by 33%. Pretty nifty skill for flag runners.
  • Master of Paths: Basically, he gives access to Team Trials once you complete the Guide’s quest. Cool, huh? Of course, you go to this guy when you’re done talking to three Masters as well as the Guide. The latter will direct you to this guy, so you don’t need to look for him yourself.

Looking for some action? Here’s a list of other Nameless Masters equipped with particular kills to teach you some concepts:

  • Master of Healing: Heals herself a lot and runs around in a circle.
  • Master of Enchantment: She’s equipped with Protection skills.
  • Master of Axes: He’s got an axe, and he’s out to get you.
  • Master of Hammers: Want to experience being knocked down with a hammer?
  • Master of Lightning: Dare we say, “death by Air Magic”?
  • Master of Spirits: This one’s got loads of Spirits placed in a small area. Definitely a no-no for claustrophobics.
  • Master of Survival: This one runs in a large loop, trying to avoid you. Yep, it’s pretty much like a virtual game of tag.
  • Master of Hexes: This one’s out to get you with cartloads of Curses.
  • Master of Energy Denial: Drains the life out of you by reducing your energy.

So that’s pretty much it. For more updates and info on this cool MMO from NCSoft and ArenaNet, just stay tuned here.
