Iwata: 3DS will be pirate-proof, 3D functionality optional

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has revealed some new details on the hotly anticipated fifth iteration of Nintendo DS, the 3DS. According to Iwata, the new handheld will include stronger measures to prevent pirates from software theft.

 

“We fear a kind of thinking is become widespread that paying for software is meaningless. We have a strong sense of crisis about this problem.”

He also promised that the 3D functionality can be easily toggled by the users, especially parents who maybe worried about the possible health effects of the new handheld to their children’s eyesight.

The new DS is said to produce three-dimensional graphics without the need for any special glasses. It will be unveiled at next months E3.
