Iwata: Nintendo will boost Wii production (DUPE, deny)
The International Business Times reports that Nintendo’s President, Satoru Iwata, has acknowledged that the shortage of their Wii console was abnormal. Speaking to the press, he expressed that they will do their best to address this lack of stock. Iwata noted that they “have not been able to properly foresee demand.”
Iwata has declined to disclose the monthly production capacity of the Wii. The president notes that it is still to early to reveal by how much the production is being raised. “We will do our best to offer the machine for those who are waiting,” Iwata said.
Iwata did however reveal how much their production is for the Nintendo DS handheld. Nintendo is currently producing 2.5 million a month just to meet demand. This is the highest production ever for a Nintendo game machine.
The International Business Times note that since it’s launch five months ago, 5.84 million of Nintendo’s Wii have already been sold.
