Japan: DSi still on top, Xbox 360 outsells DS Lite

The once-mighty DS Lite has finally fallen to the bottom of the Media Create hardware sales charts in Japan (not counting the PS2), selling only 8,381 units in the week of November 3 to 9. Should we start counting down the days until it sells less than the PS2 and, eventually, not being listed at all like the DS Phat?

The reigning champ is still the brand spankin’ new DSi for two weeks running, selling a total of 104,897 units. Sales of the DSi went down around 40% from the previous sales report, but that can be attributed to hardware shortages.

The biggest jumper this time is the Xbox 360 with a 108.5% increase in sales. It still didn’t quite catch up to the PS3’s numbers (18,354 units sold for the PS3), but at 12,759 it’s definitely creeping up. The Wii overtook the PS3 with 24,726 units sold and is now at third place. Second place still belongs to the PSP with 43,726 units sold.
