Japanese Line Up for Final Fantasy III Launch

FF3 LineIn Japan, it’s now August 24, 2006. What is so special about this day? It’s the Japanese launch of Final Fantasy III and the Crystal FF3 DS Lite. By 3:00 AM, 80 people had already joined the line at one of the stores at Akihabara (at the very front of the line is a young man who’s been waiting since midnight).

Recent sales show that the DS Lite only sold 75,000 units last week in Japan. It’s making people think that Nintendo purposely held back shipments of the DS so that they could satisfy the demand that will explode as Final Fantasy III launches. Expect a statement by Nintendo on FFIII‘s success shortly after the launch!
