Japanese Retailers Listing Wii at 18,000 Yen

Wii Price

First, don’t get your hopes up. It’s completely possible that these retailers made a mistake. However, if it turns out true, this would mean that Wii would launch at an equivalent of $160 US or €125. Japanese prices include tax so that would probably make it $150 in the US (or in marketing terms, $149.99) and €150 in Europe (because game companies hate Europe).

The story is as follows. PC-Success had the Wii listed at ¥18,000. However, it was later taken down for unknown reasons. Now, Kakaku.Livedoor also has the Wii at ¥18,000. That is pictured above.

When Nintendo gave its press release, it just said it would be below $250 US and Â¥25,000. We’ll see how things go. If it really is Â¥18,000… Sony might be in trouble. Microsoft is screwed in Japan no matter what the price.
